Support to the Endowment Fund via the metaverse and Cannes NFTs

Cannes invests the metaverse: a European first which will allow NFTs to be auctioned, with 10% of the profits going to the Cannes endowment fund

Save the date: the presentation of the project will take place during the “World AI Cannes Festival” (WAICF), which will be held from April 14 to 16, 2022 in Cannes

An innovative and pioneering operation serving the common good

The City of Cannes is leading an ambitious strategy to put digital technologies at the service of local development and the common good. After the creation of the World A.I Cannes Festival, the first international exhibition dedicated to artificial intelligence, the municipality is embarking on a very innovative project. In partnership with the Cannes company Pertimm, Cannes becomes the first European city to digitize emblematic sites of its territory (Sainte-Marguerite Island, Boulevard de la Croisette, Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, etc.) in the form of Non Fungible Tokens (NFT). These places and buildings that make Cannes unique will be integrated into the blockchain, then sold, in the form of unique intangible assets, during an auction during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity (June 20 to 24, 2022 ). Acquirers can then implement these NFTs in a metaverse platform of their choice.

This operation aims to promote the attractiveness of the Cannes destination through the enhancement and promotion of its historical heritage, a vector of identity and authenticity. It also supports the development of companies with high technological added value in the territory of Cannes.

In order to associate the population with this unique operation, an NFT will be offered to a Cannes resident randomly selected.

Finally, in addition to the royalties paid to the City of Cannes for the use of the Cannes brand, 10% of the sales made will be allocated to the Cannes Endowment Fund (donation estimated at €203,000) in order to support local environmental actions carried out by Cannes associations.

We therefore give you an appointment on Saturday at the WAICF for the presentation of the project, and at the Cannes Lions for the auction!

annes is a leading tourist destination thanks to its international events but also its emblematic sites, its landscapes, its Riviera climate and its art of living. Thus, each year more than three million visitors from all over the world come here. Today, Cannes is taking a new turn to promote its heritage beyond all borders. The City of Cannes and the local company Pertimm are launching a first at European level: the digitization of cult places and buildings in Cannes such as the Suquet district, the Boulevard de la Croisette, the Old Port or the Palais des Festivals and et des Congrès, authenticated via Non Fungible Tokens (NFT). With this innovative technology, each place in Cannes will be digitized and then sold at auction. Part of the sums collected will be donated to the Cannes Endowment Fund and will be used to develop projects for the protection of the environment. Proactive, the municipality is thus positioning itself on an innovative market in full expansion, a source of attractiveness, influence and wealth. » David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes.
